Customer's Testimonial

This shovel could one day be a life saver! There are so many many uses for this shovel. In all actuality, the term, 'shovel', does not define this multi-purpose tool well enough. Let me see if I can list them all here.

You do have the shovel head. This is made of good strong steel - Hi-Carbon Stainless Steel. The shovel comes to a nice point that can really dig well into the ground. The shovel head also has a knife-like side that could be used as a hatchet. On the other side of the shovel head, there is a serrated cutting edge. FiveJoy says this shovel can be used for some may different things, and it can! It can also be used as a chopper, hammer, there is a small hole for cutting wire, there is a cm ruler, and can be used as an emergency auto hammer. The shovel head adjust to 180° angle or a 90° angle (to use this as a hoe). To adjust, you screw the handle tightly to the shovel head. Plus the shovel head folds completely up to store.

There are two parts to the handle of the shovel. Since they are made of aluminum, they are both lightweight, but very strong. They are both covered in a soft spongy material that makes the handle so easy to hold.

In the bottom part of the handle, there is a knife that is also made of high carbon steel. One side is a straight blade that is 2 1/8" long, and the other side is a serrated edge knife that is approximately the same size. The top of the blade does not come to a point, but rather it is in a V-shape. My guess is so that you can pry something? At the bottom of the blade is a bottle cap opener (I guess many people can't go without).

Unscrew the very bottom of the handle with the paracord, and out comes the magnesium fire starter. It is coated with something, but once you scrape off the coating by using the blade or the serrated knife, you get very big sparks. I prefer using the serrated blade as I can achieve larger sparks.

In order to get to the whistler, just unscrew and take out the magnesium fire starter. The whistle is nice and loud when you blow into it. I also find that the whistle is the perfect place to store some tinder for the fire starter such as a few small wads of cotton.

To store the shovel in, is a sturdy quality made canvas pouch. It feel like a cordura fabric, but I am not certain. It seals up with Velcro and a snap latch. If you get the shovel wet, there are small holes, with grommets, at the bottom of each of the sections where you store the shovel to let wetness leak through. It has a shoulder strap, but does have another strap to put on a belt or a backpack. There is also a cover just for the head of the shovel which has straps on this as well to attach to a belt or backpack.

I keep mine in the trunk of my car. You never know what may come. If I get stranded somewhere, I know that I have the perfect tool that will help with my survival.
